As an adult
Abraham "Bram" Stoker (1847 -1912) was an Irish writer, though as an adult he worked in London managing a theatre. He wrote novels and short stories to supplement his income. Stoker's best known book is Dracula, which was published in 1897. Stoker spent many years researching European folklore before writing Dracula, and joined a magical society called The Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn.
