Grace Nichols

Grace Nichols was born and grew up in a small country village in Guyana in the West Indies. She moved to Britain in the 1970s with her partner, the poet John Agard. Grace is best known for her collections of poetry which blend Creole with standard English to capture the atmosphere of Caribbean culture, and she has been awarded the prestigious Commonwealth Poetry Prize.
