Peter Abrahams
As a child
I was born in Brookling, Massachusetts and grew up in Canada, the U.S. and the Bahamas. My childhood was very happy - lots of outdoor play. My mother was a writer and taught me most of what I know at a very early age. The most important thing I learned from her? Be original. I try to bend every note.
As an adult
I've lived on Cape Cod since 1982. I write in an office over the garage. It's a detached garage, so I have a commute of about twenty feet. But most important psychologically, is that we overlook a salt marsh - it is full of birds, foxes, coyotes, my favourites are the egrets.
As an artist
When Into the Dark, book three in the Echo Falls Series, comes out, I will have published nineteen novels, including sixteen for adults. It really doesn't seem like a lot. I sometimes have the feeling I'm just getting started. I try to write every day, just the way a musician practises, except that on a daily basis I end up with actual product.
