We are delighted to announce that this year the 2013 Caldecott Medal winner is This Is Not My Hat, written and illustrated by Jon Klassen.
This Is Not My Hat is Jon Klassen's hilarious follow up to his bestselling picture book I Want My Hat Back. Klassen's second deadpan-funny tale is about a tiny fish wearing a round blue top hat (which happens to fit him perfectly but also happens not to be his). “With minute changes in eyes and the slightest displacement of seagrass, Klassen’s masterful illustrations tell the story the narrator doesn’t know,” Caldecott Chair Sandra.
The Caldecott Medal, now in its 75th year, was named in honor of nineteenth-century English illustrator Randolph Caldecott. It is awarded annually by the Association for Library Service to Children, a division of the American Library Association, to the artist of the most distinguished American picture book for children. This year The Caldecott Medal celebrates it 75th Anniversary.
