Maternity Cover-Junior Desk Editor

Walker Books are looking for a Junior Desk Editor to cover maternity leave.You will work as a key team member of the Publishing Services Department to ensure that the high Walker editorial standards are met.

The role will help ensure that written printed and digital material – primarily new illustrated books, reprints, sales (Advance Information sheets), publicity, promotion and website text originating at Walker Books is copyedited and proofread accurately and conforms to House Style. Specific responsibility for junior fiction ebooks.

Junior Business Affairs Manager

Reporting to the Senior Business Affairs Manager you will be issuing and administering picture book head contracts, flat fee agreements, licensing and other subsidiary rights agreements in a timely manner; overseeing foreign rights agreements and maintaining up-to-date, accurate records and filing systems relating to such agreements; other ad hoc tasks across department as and when necessary

 The ideal candidate will have minimum 3-4 years’ experience in drafting and negotiating publishing head contracts

Graduate level education or equivalent

Knowledge of Biblio would be an advantage

Flexible and proactive

A good knowledge and application of copyright laws and rights ownership issues

 Head of UK Sales

 Reporting to the UK Sales and Marketing Director and Walker Group Export Sales Director, you will be responsible for managing the UK Sales team, developing and implementing a UK Sales Strategy as well as managing and delivering UK Sales Budgets. You will be able to develop first class relationships with customers, and sell directly to Waterstones.
