Childhood

I spent the first two years of my life in the Kingdom of Swaziland in Africa. My first solid food was avocado pears which grew on a tree at the end of our garden. They are my favourite food to this day. When my family came to rainy England I went to a crazy school where one of the teachers ate cat food, and the geography teacher told the same story in every lesson about a man being eaten by a shark.

Adulthood

I studied Classics at Oxford where I read the epic poems of Homer and Virgil as well as texts by ancient historians and philosophers. After university I went to Moscow on a two week course to learn Russian and I stayed there for three years as a freelance journalist. These were exciting times - the last days of the Soviet Empire. I travelled extensively across Siberia to the Volcanoes of Kamchatka and the rusting nuclear submarine dumps of Vladivostok. Back in England I worked for the BBC as an multi-award winning producer of the business programme where I met my friend David Edmonds.

As an Author

In 2005 I set up Storynory.com and became a pioneer of podcasting. I have written hundreds of stories for Storynory and kids all over the world have grown up with our characters read by our wonderful actors. Followers of Storynory will recognise quite a bit of my style of storytelling in Undercover Robot.
